When the weather is nice, taking your boat out can be a great way to spend the day with family and friends. Fortunately, Conway has many great waterways, so hitch your boat up to your Kia Telluride and head to the lake. Whether you are taking your family out for a relaxing afternoon on the water or getting up early to go fishing with your friends, read on to learn about our favorite boating destinations in the Conway, AR, area.


1. Beaverfork Park Lake

Located directly north of Conway at 20 Kinley Drive, this mid-sized lake offers 960 acres to enjoy your boat. The lake hosts fishing tournaments, fireworks shows, and pavilion rentals as well. Be aware that taking boats on the lake is allowed by permit only. All guests can purchase a daily permit, but residents of Faulkner county are eligible to purchase an annual permit.



2. Lake Conway

Conway’s namesake lake, conveniently located to the southeast of town, offers no less than five boat ramps to launch from. The Gold Creek Boat Launch, the closest one to Conway, is located at 19 Gold Creek Landing Road. This sizeable lake features several small bays and inlets, making it an enjoyable place to take your boat out. Many sportfish call Lake Conway home, including bass, crappie, and bluegill.



3. Murray Lake

Murray Lake, actually part of the Arkansas River, is located between Conway and Little Rock. This “lake” was created by the damming of the Arkansas River and is approximately 4,500 acres. This waterway can be accessed by the Little Maumelle River Boat Launch at River Mountain Road. Murray Lake is a favorite spot for boating, canoeing, water skiing, and fishing.



4. Lake Maumelle

This large 8,900-acre lake was created in the 1950s to provide drinking water to Little Rock. It offers three boat launches, with the closest access to Conway being the Sleepy Hollow Access off A.R.-10. Aside from offering amazing opportunities for boating, the lake is peacefully surrounded by scenic natural views, including the Blue Mountain Natural Area and Pinnacle Mountain State Park.



5. Toad Suck Ferry Damsite Park

Located at 93 Park Road in Bigelow, just west of Conway, this park offers a boat launch into the Arkansas River. This is the perfect place to launch your boat if you want to enjoy the river upstream from Murray Lake. It is also the Arkansas River’s closest access point to Conway, and it is only a little way downstream from several small islands to explore.
