Over on Car and Driver’s website, Austin Irwin gives the EV9 a stunning 10/10 on his review. He compliments this, saying it is “…one of the first true family-friendly EV options and based on first impressions it’s looking like a slam dunk.” When testing the AWD EV9, it reached 60 mph in a shocking 4.5 seconds, which Irwin says is 2 seconds faster than the Kia Telluride. He also notes the vehicle’s handling provides a “pleasantly soft ride” and is just as pleasant to glimpse at as it is to drive.

Motor Trend‘s Kristen Lee also reviewed the EV9 for a first impression drive, and she provides her thoughts in a YouTube video. She states this EV delivers a sense of fastness while looking good with highlights like its constellation-shaped headlights and the grillless front. “It’s sleek. It’s simple. There are fascinating textures throughout,” Lee states. While she takes the time to mention the car’s looks, she also communicates how the powertrain handles, feeling fresh and new, with heavy but nice steering. Lee Concludes her review by stating how normal this EV is to drive, making it an excellent choice for those thinking about switching to electric driving. Mark Takahashi wrote his thoughts in his EV9 review on Autoblog’s website after taking the EV on and off-road. He notes that the acceleration is immediate and quicker than most people will ever need while providing dynamic handling for improved security. “The suspension tuning just feels right for a three-row SUV (much like the Telluride), which is saying something since the EV9 does not benefit from adaptive dampers,” states Takahashi. He ends his review by noting that the EV9 has the potential to overtake the EV market, similar to how the Telluride became wildly popular in the SUV space. “With head-turning style, smart tech and the ability to deliver everything three-row SUV shoppers require, there really isn’t a direct rival,” says Takahashi.
