The Kia Forte is a small sedan with a surprisingly spacious cabin that comes standard with an impressive list of safety features. For the 2020 model year, Kia added two new trim levels. There is now a GT-Line to replace the S and a new high-end GT model. The Forte now comes only as a sedan and has a sleek exterior look. Here is everything you need to know about the 2020 Kia Forte.

The Models

The base Forte is the FE. This trim has 15-inch steel wheels and automatic headlights. The LXS adds 16-inch alloy wheels, a gloss black bumper, and gloss black grille accents, and it has a chrome exhaust tip. The new GT-Line comes with a sport grille, fog lights, LED daytime running lights, and a rear spoiler along with 17-inch alloy wheels. There is also an EX trim in the lineup with some upgrades in the cabin, or you can choose the new GT, which comes with a power sunroof, independent front and rear suspension, larger front disc brakes, and a high-flow dual exhaust with chrome tips.

The Power

The base powertrain for the Forte is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 horsepower. In most cases, it works with a CVT, but a six-speed manual is available. The GT gets a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder with 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is the standard for the 1.6-liter turbo with the six-speed manual available as an option.

The Technology

Every Forte trim has an 8-inch touch-screen display with an infotainment system that works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All models also have a USB port and Bluetooth. A four-speaker stereo comes in the entry-level trim, with extras such as wireless device charging, extra USB ports, a six-speaker stereo, and an eight-speaker Harmon Kardon surround-sound audio system are also available. You can also get satellite radio and HD radio.

The Safety Features

All of the Forte models come standard with several advanced driver-assist safety features such as forward-collision warning, automatic braking, a driver drowsiness monitor, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. The top-level GT trim also offers the option for adaptive LED headlights, a blind-spot monitoring system, reverse parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control.

The Interior

The Forte is a nice place to ride with comfortable cloth-covered seats in the entry-level trim. There is plenty of space in the rear seat for adults, and in the back, the cargo area offers 15.3 cubic feet of space. As you move up through the trims, you can get features such as a flat-bottomed steering wheel in the GT-Line, which also adds sport seats and a leather-wrapped shift knob. The EX has a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, leatherette upholstery, and heated and ventilated front seats, while the GT has red accent stitching and ambient interior lighting.

The 2020 Kia Forte is a compact sedan that should be on any driver’s list of must-sees. It provides a choice of efficient engines, lots of standard technology, and a sleek and comfortable cabin. Come by and test drive one today.
